Who are we and what do we offer?

We are an enterprising non-profit society with a mission to reduce the rural population decline by providing more opportunities for wellness, recreation and the arts.

Our facility includes a commercial-quality workout gym, a full-sized gymnasium, a theatre stage, fitness studios & meeting/training rooms.  At the HUB, there is something for everyone, whether you are 1 or 100, we have something for you!

We offer an After-school program, Community Coffee, Seniors Events, Family events (movies and dances), and more.

We are also home to a Dance Studio, Yoga Studio and Pottery Studio

Our Story

When Ashcroft Elementary School faced decommissioning by School District 74, a group of determined mothers couldn't bear to see the building go to waste. They joined forces, crafting a comprehensive business plan and proposal for the school district to lease the space, thus giving birth to The Ashcroft HUB (HUB). With a nine-year lease secured and a shared vision of creating a vibrant community center, the group sprang into action.

Their journey began with the establishment of Merv's Gym, a crucial step toward creating a sustainable funding model that would cover monthly utilities. Every task, from event setup to cleaning duties, was diligently handled by board members and a dedicated team of volunteers. As time passed, the HUB evolved into a thriving hub of activity.

Today, the HUB employs two full-time and two part-time staff members year-round, supplemented by additional student staff during the summer months. Every corner of the building finds purpose, housing businesses and services like Bonadide Books, Haven Yoga and Wellness, Stepping Stones Daycare, PIY Paint, and Lovett Dance Studio. Several rooms are available for rent, serving as versatile spaces for meetings and gatherings.

The HUB has become the heartbeat of Ashcroft, where a myriad of events unfold. The gymnasium, transformed into a theater by the Winding Rivers Arts & Performance Society, hosts live theatrical performances annually. From joyous celebrations like birthday parties and weddings to somber occasions like funerals, the HUB accommodates a wide spectrum of events. The community center actively collaborates with local groups, hosting and supporting various events throughout the year, with the roster expanding steadily.

If it’s happening in Ashcroft, it’s likely happenin’ at the HUB!
